The previews I saw for this movie made me want to see it, HOWEVER, I saw the best parts of the movie in the previews. The previews and the trailer make the movie appear to be funny, but I actually left the theater feeling nothing akin to amused. The use of the anthropology theme didn't work and while I sought a light-hearted comedy, what I got was heavy hearted and bummed. Not a bad movie, just not very good.

Not as good as I'd hoped but it was entertaining enough to be worth the money. Laura Linney was great as the uptight socialite, and her slightly exaggerated portrayal as such provides the most laughs. You end up going from detesting her to feeling sorry for her as you begin to understand her situation. Scarlett Johansson's role in this movie really doesn't do justice to what she is capable of doing as an actress, but she is okay in this movie. The story provided an enlightening peek into the life of some of the east coast socialites. Not great, but it was good.

This is a great movie and full of laughter. If you are a nanny, like I am, this is a must see.

My wife and I were a little so-so about the movie going into it. I didn't have high expectations, and that is probably why I liked it so much. It is not the best movie of the summer by a long shot, but it was very entertaining. It was not your typical "nanny" movie/TV show. You felt like you were a scientist studying and dissecting the nanny world. The movie displayed the great importance of family, and the need for families to BE a family. This movie showed a very rich upper east side Manhattan "family" which had a father who was never home (always working, and also "working" other women), a mother who had a gillion other things to do other than take care of her child, and a child who has had probably ten nannies/mommies in his lifetime. There were parts of the movie that kind of skipped around too much where I wish they had extended the scene. Great acting. Scarlett Johansson was fabulous. I walked out wanting to be a better family man. Go see it, it will entertain you.
